FREE CALIPSO DESKTOP WALLPAPER

Educators and students may download this CALIPSO graphic to use as computer wallpaper. This graphic may not be reproduced for commercial purposes. We would like to thank Alcatel for use of this CALIPSO graphic.

There are three different files, in both PC and Macintosh formats, to choose from below. The one you choose will depend on the screen resolution of your computer monitor. If you have a PC, go to the Control panels folder. You can locate this folder by clicking on the START button located in the bottom left hand side of your screen and going to SETTINGS. Inside the Control Panel folder you will find an icon named DISPLAY. Click on that and go to the tab marked SETTINGS. You will see a slider bar named Desktop Area or Resolution. That will give you the screen resolution you need to pick the right image for your computer. We will cover installation later.

If you are using a Macintosh computer, go to the Control Panel, located under the Apple symbol at the top left of the screen. In the Control Panel folder, you will see an item called Monitors and Sound. Select this and it will show you, under the monitor selection, the screen resolution you are using.

Downloading the file

Once you have determined the screen resolution you are using, you now need to download the file to your computer. Click on the File link that lists the format (PC or Mac) and the resolution you are using. This should bring up a window asking you where you want to save the file. Save it to somewhere you can remember so you can load it as your computer wallpaper file. If it does not ask you, then your browser has a default folder it saves all downloads into. The file should be in that folder.

Installing the file - PC

Once the file is downloaded, select DISPLAY in the Control Panel's folder. Go to the BACKGROUND tab. In the window, you will see the WALLPAPER list. Under that list, you will see BROWSE. Select BROWSE and locate the image you downloaded. Select the image and in the BACKGROUND select CENTER. Select APPLY or OK, and this should set your new desktop wallpaper.

Installing the file - Macintosh
System 8.0 or later:

Once the file is downloaded, in the Control Panels folder select Desktop Pictures. This will open a panel that will let you select the file to use. Click SELECT and, in the popup window, select the file you downloaded and close the window. Save the new settings. This should position the new CALIPSO image as your desktop picture. If you are using a system previous to 8.0, please consult your systems administrator.
