The CALIPSO Outreach
program, in collaboration with GLOBE (Global
Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment),
is working with scientists from the CALIPSO satellite-based
research mission, teachers, and students to better understand
the effects of clouds and aerosols on the Earth's atmosphere.
This program involves students nationwide by having them
participate in obtaining sun photometer measurements from
their schools and homes for comparison with data collected
by CALIPSO.
Data collected from classroom ground
observations will be reported via the Internet. Scientists
will use the data from CALIPSO to improve predictions about
climate change. Data from student observations will be compared
to CALIPSO measurements.
